Edward Bergmark, PhD, LP

Dr. Edward Bergmark’s life has been shaped by an unconventional journey and a steadfast commitment to helping others. Growing up on a dirt road in Mississippi, where his father was a minister, Edward was instilled with a deep sense of responsibility and values rooted in fairness, respect, and kindness. Raised during the Vietnam War and the era of desegregation, he learned to value actions over words—a principle he carries with him to this day. His path has been marked by immense personal challenges, including the loss of his first child and the responsibility of caring for his paralyzed wife while raising their two sons. These experiences taught him resilience and the importance of support during life’s darkest moments.
Professionally, Edward’s impact is equally profound. As the founder of Optum Health, he sought not just to build a successful company but to create one that prioritized purpose, giving people access to vital care and support. Today, he continues this mission by serving on multiple boards, including three nonprofits, and advising companies like Flyte Therapy. As an executive coach at The Bailey Group, Edward blends his hard-won life lessons with professional expertise, guiding leaders who seek purpose-driven lives. His coaching goes beyond surface-level strategies, focusing on empathy, resilience, and integrity. With a PhD in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, Edward’s approach is grounded in a commitment to fairness, kindness, and a generous spirit that defines both his personal and professional life.
